Never did tell you what happened when I Caddied for Mr. Merlino. (you know a week after you looped me with Ralph Natale as the F.B.I. set up his Witness Protection)
So the big guy in the group, he gets first ups on the second tee. Look, I'm assuming he is muscle, most likely a hit man in the flesh for "the family". Good old "Johnny Sciotto" (got himself a favor) sets his bag down next to the tee, I follow. So I pipe up...
"On this hole, you've got jail on the left, it's safe on the right.."
To this, the salt and pepper Mr. Merlino yells to his guy batting cleanup, "Give it a GOOD WHACK!"
Big guy hits it 255 yards in the fairway, turns to me and says low, loud, and deliberate - like (you know?) "Right down the middle..."
Not everyday a serial killer has this kind of exchange with you on the golf course.
Of course Ralph Natale reached for the gun in his shoulder holster under his green jacket, screaming "This kids not a caddie!" while I feared for my life...
Personally, my "Dad", that asshole never believed a word I said about those loops. Said it was my bi - polar.
Anyhow, I hope the season finds you faring well. Tell Mr. Richards I say "hello".

If trees grew upside down
And root houses were in fashion
I’d build me a root house high in the clouds
Of the bare peaked mountain
With snow at its base
There I’d spend my nights
Looking down at the stars
That shine under the sky
From the seas of illusion
To the deserts of green
And swing from the roots of my lone sanity
